With over 27 years of experience in finance, Mary Quist-Newins is a Certified Financial Planner® and thought leader committed to providing comprehensive advice to clients, students, and the public. Having worked with hundreds of clients, financial advisors and industry leaders, she is more passionate than ever about the power and benefits of a well-thought-out financial plan.
As an academic, Mary held the only endowed professorship in the nation dedicated to the study of women and money. She also founded the Center for Women and Financial Services at The American College of Financial Services. Mary continues researching, writing, speaking and teaching as an instructor of Certified Financial Planner® studies at universities and industry-leading companies.
Due to her contributions to the well-being of women and financial services, in 2018 she was honored in Minnesota Business' "Women Who Lead," she was recognized in 2017 by Finance and Commerce as one of the “Top Women in Finance;” in 2014 as award recipient for "Innovation in Finance" by the National Association of Women Business Owners, Minnesota (NAWBO MN); in 2011 as the national “Woman of the Year” by Women in Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS); and as one of Treasury and Risk magazine’s “25 Outstanding Leaders in Finance Who Happen to Be Women” in 2008. She currently serves as president for NAWBO MN and as past president for the National Association of Women MBAs in Minneapolis/St. Paul.
Mary has also been acknowledged for her groundbreaking efforts in financial services research. She is the author of the textbook, Women and Money - Matters of Trust, and her white papers, articles, and quotes have been featured in USA Today, Wall Street Journal, The Daily Beast, Fox Business, ABC News, Consumer Reports, American Express Open Forum, Journal of Financial Planning, Financial Planning magazine, LIMRA Market News, and GAMA International Journal.
She resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota and she loves spending time with her husband, two children, three dogs and cat. She is actively involved with Normandale Lutheran Church, a wide range of outdoor activities and the relentless pursuit of knowledge.
